Bequest

This is the most familiar type of planned giving. Leaving assets to IAJF reduces the size of your taxable estate. One can choose to leave a specified sum of money (in the form of CDs, stocks, life insurance, and jewelry) or particular piece of property or asset.

Other options might include leaving IAJF a percentage of your estate or a percentage of the residue after making provisions for family and friends.

Sample Bequest Language:

For a Specific Amount

"I hereby give and bequeath unto The Iranian American Jewish Federation of New York, Inc., 770 Middle Neck Rd., Suite 5P, Great Neck, New York 11024 the sum of $___________ to be used for its general charitable purposes."

For a Percentage:

"After the payment of such debts and expenses as are set forth above, I hereby give, devise, and bequeath the residue as follows: ______ percent (%) to The Iranian American Jewish Federation of New York, Inc., 770 Middle Neck Rd., Suite 5P, Great Neck, New York 11024, to be used for its general charitable purposes."

For property:

"I hereby give and bequeath unto The Iranian American Jewish Federation of New York, Inc., 770 Middle Neck Rd., Suite 5P, Great Neck, New York 11024 __________________________ (insert name of property) to be used for its general charitable purposes."
